This policy covers Mereframe Camera, the Android app on Google Play as Mereframe: RAW Camera
(package app.unnamed.rawrecording, formerly called Unnamed), and this website. Both are made by
Anderson Mendoza (andermendz), an individual developer, called “we” below.
The short version
- Your photos, videos and settings stay on your phone. We have no servers that receive them.
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. We don’t sell or rent data to anyone.
- Location is off until you turn on Save location, and then it only goes into your own files.
- Something leaves your phone only when you share it, or when Google Play handles a purchase.
What the app asks for, and why
- Camera
- To show the viewfinder and take photos and videos. Required to use the app.
- Microphone
- To record sound with videos. Optional: without it, videos are silent.
- Location
- Optional and off by default. Only if you turn on Save location in Settings and allow it does the app read your position, and only while the camera screen is open. The place a photo or video was taken is then written into that file on your phone.
- Notifications
- To show progress while photos finish developing, or a video records, after you leave the app.
- Motion sensors
- The gyroscope and gravity sensor tell how steady the phone is, to pick shutter speeds, choose the sharpest frames and draw the level. They need no permission, and their readings are used only on your phone.
- Vibration
- For the small haptic ticks on the controls.
The app can’t see the rest of your photo library. It saves what you take to the Mereframe album (DCIM/Mereframe) and to its own private storage. If you pick a folder for video copies, it can reach only that folder.
What stays on your phone
Photos, videos, RAW and DNG files, thumbnails, your settings and saved looks, your Pro purchase record, and the app’s error and crash logs are all stored on your phone. Photos carry the usual camera details (phone model, exposure, lens, time) in their metadata, plus the location if you saved one.
When something leaves your phone
Only in these cases:
- You share or export. Sharing a photo, video or DNG, or copying it to a folder, hands the file to the app or place you choose, with its metadata, including a saved location. What happens next is up to that app’s own policy.
- Another app asks Mereframe to take a picture. When an app opens Mereframe to capture a photo for it, the photo you take is returned to that app.
- You send a diagnostics report. Reports are made only when you tap to share or copy one. They hold technical details for fixing problems: phone model, Android and app version, what the cameras support, app settings, timings, and error and crash logs. They hold no photos, videos or locations. Each report is encrypted on your phone so only we can read it, and a copy is saved to your Downloads folder.
- You open the details of a photo that has a location. To show a place name instead of bare coordinates, the app asks Android’s built-in geocoder. On most phones that service sends the coordinates to Google to look the name up.
- Google Play. The Play version includes three Google libraries: Play Billing for purchases, Play In-App Review so you can rate the app without leaving it, and Play Install Referrer, which tells the app the date and version you first installed. They work through the Google Play Store app on your phone, which communicates with Google under Google’s Privacy Policy.
Nothing else is sent anywhere. The app has no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services, and contacts no server of ours.
Purchases
Mereframe is free. Pro is an optional one-time purchase through Google Play, which takes the payment. We never see your card or payment details. To unlock Pro, the app keeps the purchase receipt on your phone, tied to that phone’s secure key storage, and asks Google Play what your account owns so a purchase can be restored and a refund respected. The first-install date and version from Play decide whether you were an early supporter; they stay on your phone.
Backups and new phones
The app turns off Android’s cloud backup. When you move to a new phone with Android’s transfer tool, the app’s settings and files may be copied across; your Pro record is not, and Pro is restored from Google Play instead. Photos and videos in your gallery follow whatever backup you use for them, such as Google Photos.
What we receive
Only what you choose to send us: a diagnostics report, an email, or a message on our Discord. We use it to answer you and to fix the app, keep it only as long as that takes, and share it with no one. Messages on Discord are also covered by Discord’s own privacy policy.
This website
mereframe.com uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and has no forms. Its fonts and images are served from the site itself. Like any web server, its host may keep standard access logs. Links to Google Play, Discord, X and GitHub take you to those services and their own policies.
Deleting your data
Deleting a photo or video in Mereframe removes it from the app, and you can choose to delete the gallery copy too. Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it removes its private files, settings and logs. Photos and videos in your gallery, and diagnostics reports in Downloads, stay until you delete them. To have a report or message you sent us deleted, email us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. As we hold nothing unless you sent it to us, most requests are simple: email us and we’ll reply within 30 days.
Children
Mereframe is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If a change affects what leaves your phone, the app’s release notes will say so.
